Never had I been so proud to be a leader by Kevin

The ability to stand in front and lead; able to be decisive, quick and flexible, does that define leadership? Having known the dictionary meaning, I did not see myself as a leader. I was not always confident of myself.

As usual, I slumped in my chair and switched on my computer. “I’m going to break some personal records.” I thought to myself. I logged in to my account and started playing Audition Online. It was one of my idiosyncrasies to check if any of my friends were online. Noticing that some of my good friends were on, I greeted them in our normal chatting tone and I started telling them about my interesting day again.

I enjoyed seeing people laugh. It was nice to liven people’s day. I was the leader of a guild. It did not really mean much to me, until recently, where we had challenges from others. It was like a competition and we were all keen to try it. I sorted the good players out and we played against other guilds. We won a lot at the start and were very excited. We matched up against many good guilds and had great games.

Finally, the famous guild, that I always wanted to win, accepted a challenge from us. Everyone was geared up for the fast and furious game play. I spoke to the guild “Let’s win them and show them who’s the best!” We were determined and we played on. The atmosphere was tense and we were all very nervous. When it started, we messed up at the start but after a few moments, we got our act up and won the first game. We all cheered and celebrated our victory, however it was not over. We were playing “best of three games.” The next game began.

We continued playing our best and I kept encouraging my team when they started to feel panicked. To our dismay, they started using hacks and won us. My guild was very upset. I felt that it was such an underhand trick to use hacks. On the third game, we persevered on and tried our best. Despite them using hacks, we won with our fantastic teamwork and we were very delighted.

I realized that I had always been a leader. Leaders did not have to come in a certain shape or size. It did not matter where I was a leader in. All I knew was that never had I been so proud to be a leader.
